Taking Christ out of Christmas

Posted by Erin | Comments (0)

Several weeks ago a friend of mine sent me one of those email letters about how bad it was to take Christ and the religious meaning out of Christmas and if someone says to you, “Happy Holidays”, don’t let them get away with it! Correct them and let them know that you will not stand for them taking Christ out of Christmas! As I read the letter it dawned on me that whoever wrote this nonsense had just done more to take Christ out of Christmas then anyone I have ever known who had wished me, “Happy Holidays”.

From my understanding of Christ, He would not have cared what you said to anyone but would be all about what you did to those around you. Did you love your neighbor, feed the hungry, and clothe the poor? What about visiting prisoners in your local jail, visiting seniors in the local senior facility, give a room to the homeless or a place for the sick to lay their heads? What someone says to you about Christ cannot match what you do in His name. BTW: the church took over a pagan holiday and switched it to Christmas so Christ was really never a part of Christmas in the first place; but who looks up the truth when the lie takes over?

Silence is Golden

Posted by Ernest | Comments (0)

There are two kinds of people; one who loves to listen to the silence in the air and the other that wants constant noise. If you are married and you crave silence, do you ever talk to one another? Do you just meditate until you communicate telepathically? And if you both crave noise, is there ever enough room for an opinion? Does the noise drown out any hope of a conversation or is the conversations a bunch of yelling while each one attempts to out do the other? These are things to ponder if there is no silence.

If one that loves silence is married to one that craves the noise there is a balance that lies between where each can find peace with and in the other. This is something I am familiar with in my marriage and also with the marriages of my friends. It is something I have noticed over the last few years and marveled how wonderful it seems to work and move. So while silence is indeed golden, there is room for what wonderful noise can bring as well…

Who is Right About Nutrition?

Posted by Erin | Comments (0)

If you have ever tried to find nutrition information and an eating program to go with it you will be amazed at what you read. The range is unbelievable from the strictest raw vegan to the high fat Atkins Diet that was so popular a few years ago. The question is; who is right? We can put a man on the moon but cannot figure out what the best eating plan to get and stay healthy is. You also don’t know who’s in bed with whom. Does the meat and dairy industry finance the research for the high fat diets? Does the local and slow food movements behind the vegan and vegetarian diets? Who knows????

If you are a consumer, how do you cull through all this mess? You can’t even trust the USDA as they have turned their backs on any science that doesn’t prove their stance as well. So science is out if it’s not what they want to hear? How crazy is that? Just like anything else we need to have open transparent discussions and look at ALL the science so people know for sure what they should eat to be the healthiest they can be. You would think congress would like this since it would cut down on the cost of health care. Duh.
