Getting Ready for Black Friday

Posted by Ernest | Comments (0)

While many are thinking of nothing but preparing the turkey and dressing for Thanksgiving, there are others preparing for the biggest retail shopping day of the year; Black Sunday. To watch all the preparation that goes into this hallowed day is much like watching someone packing and double checking every fold in a parachute before the big jump. There are schedules to coordinate, coupons to organize, people to call and transportation with room for packages to plan. You would think an army operation is taking place.

For those of us who do not enjoy shopping and crowds, we can’t even begin to understand the highs this day brings to those avid bargain hunter shoppers out to get the best deals of the year! However, it is fun seeing the precision at which these people operate and knowing that while we sit at home enjoying the ball games, family board games and such, these well trained shoppers are out there fighting in the pit to get the best toy, a pair of shoes at a whopping 85% discount or the next best thing for the teenager in the house. It is a day that will go down in holiday history.

Why Networking is Important

Posted by Ernest | Comments (0)

I have two friends who started businesses this past year and one of them has networked all over town while the other one has networked in a small area of town but he never leaves the comfort of the neighborhood. Both these guys work out of their homes and are in similar if not exact businesses. The guy that networks all over town keeps his wife as busy as can be at their home working on orders and making sure everything is working as it should. The other guy complains about not having enough business coming in every time I see him.

So the reason to network is simple; that’s how you get business and stay in business. Yes, you can network online and get some decent results, if you know how and don’t piss anybody off. You have to be careful on websites like Facebook or Twitter so you don’t come across like a walking billboard but it can be done. However, you can always go to a meeting and meet people and just visit. You can do anything you put your mind too so leverage your relationships into other meetings and build your business. Don’t let fear keep you from expanding your horizons and your wallet!

Getting New Ideas for Your Yard

Posted by Ernest | Comments (0)

One of the things I have always loved to do is find great landscaping pictures on the internet to get ideas of things I can do in my own yard. But what I am finding is there is a big difference of things I Can Do as opposed to the things I want to do; they are just beyond my skill level. So this past spring, I decided to do more than just look at pictures; I called a local landscaping company and had them come out and help me design the yard I have always wanted. We discussed the things I could do and the things I would need help with and made plans to get it done over the course of a year so I could pay as we go.

Though the job is not completely finished, I am so pleased with what has been done thus far that I just had to write about it. The walkway that was put in, the front patio and the back deck is great and we have planted some of the trees that needed to be planted this fall so they will be ready to rock and roll next year. I am waiting until next spring to put in the water feature fountain and the annuals that my wife loves so much but I can already see this is going to be a great space to entertain and have fun as a family. I could not of done it without the professional help that I have received.

The Neighborhood Bar

Posted by Ernest | Comments (0)

I live in a great area of my city that has several small neighborhood bars and coffee shops. Before living here I lived out in the suburbs where I had to drive a good ways to have fellowship with my friends. What I love the most is I get to know my neighbors and am within walking distance of several places to eat, drink and be merry anytime I please.

Over the past year most of the places I frequent have also high speed internet service so now I can take my computer and work while I watch Sunday afternoon footbal, which I am doing right now! The sun is shinning outside and I am sitting here watching the Bronco / Raven game and working away on several projects. I don’t know about you but I don’t think it can get much better than this. I love the way I can walk down to the bar, visit with friends, watch a game and work. The only word I have is awesome!
